PROTEINSCAPES draws on comparative research between Czech Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands and Portugal. Within these countries the researchers focus on both urban and rural areas as points of entry for understanding the various ways in which meat and dairy become political across different spatial scales. We draw on several protein landscapes as starting point, connecting the historical analysis of agro-food policy and subsidies with everyday practices of consumption. Field sites include cities like Prague, Copenhagen, Lisbon and Amsterdam, but also various more peripheral locations within the European Union such as the Azores, Northern Jutland, North-east Friesland and Southern Bohemia.
